Being a single parent to a pair of 6 year old twin boys isn’t close to being a stroll in a park. Even more so as its little league soccer season once again. This season yours truly will be in charge of getting the team’s kit produced.

Being one of only three dudes among 13 women in our team’s committee, it was a little bit of an effort to persuade most of them to agree not to change the team’s uniform color from red to a color I’ve never even heard off. But as hard as we tried, we did not manage to change the team name to The Red Bulls from The Red Flamingos.

After sourcing for jerseys, and believe it or not – team sponsors, I came to realize that our team did not have its own logo. I brought up this matter with the other 2 dads and we concluded that it would probably be a wonderful idea if we had our own team symbol. So we came to a decision to create a logo sample each and show them to the committee.

The three of us met up the subsequent weekend with our designs and had a good laugh, before we concluded that maybe designing wasn’t our thing. As it seems my Flamingo gave certain people the impression that it was a Woodpecker on performance enhancing substances. The so called works of pure creative genius from the other two weren’t that much better. One might pass off as a work by Picasso and the other looked like bored doodlings from a ill-fated victim of a 4 hour long weekly meeting. But we went along and presented the rough designs to the committee nonetheless.

Although the committee collectively barred the three of us from designing anything that has to do with the club unless there is a blue moon, they did come to agreement that the team should probably have its own logo. So I enthusiastically went home and surfed the net for logo design lebanon, shortlisted a handful of the more prominent design firms and tabled them to the committee.

Now our soccer team has its own custom logo. We had badges made for the team uniforms and team stickers printed for fun’s sake – thanks to a bit of sponsorship we got from the ice cream shop next to the park. The logo itself looks extremely cool with a an unmistakeably red Flamingo standing on one leg while the other is resting on a soccer ball with its wings akimbo.

I heard a little rumor that next year yours truly will be in charge of refreshments. I’m thinking of taking it a step beyond and am planning something big to present to Gatorade about a sponsorship contract.
